World-class Solutions from the Southwest.

Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, we specializes in weapon research and development through scaled testing and modeling that allows for the data collection of warhead and payload environments during the penetration events.

Our Expertise

We are experts in the fields of mechanical, electrical, software, and radio frequency engineering.

Mechanical Engineering

With over 35 years of experience in mechanical engineering, we’re able to design application-specific systems that require a broad background in mechanical properties, heat-treating, finishing, and coating techniques.

Request Information

Electrical Engineering

We have a wide-array of expertise in analog and digital electrical design capabilities. We specialize in miniature shock-hardened, electronic system development, but also have an extensive background in traditional electrical circuit design systems.

Software Engineering

DSRs software engineering department are experts in embedded systems, data analytics, remote systems and telemetry, advanced RF networks, and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) architectures.

Remote Sensing & Controls

Established in 2022 with a focus on system controls and management from long-distances, these systems reach outside the defense community and reflect a conscious effort to support technical development in commercial applications. Major areas of development include self-healing long-range wide-area networks (LoRaWAN) and the control of systems from long-distances.

Personnel

We are experts in the fields of mechanical, electrical, software, and radio frequency engineering.

Dr. Danny Frew
President

At Sandia National Laboratories Dr. Frew was responsible for the development of new earth penetration weapon systems for the DoD and supported the development of miniature self-contained data recorders and fuzing systems.

He has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles and was awarded a patent in 2013 for a standoff door-breaching grenade.

Anthony Mittas
Vice President

Anthony spent over 20 years at the Sandia National Laboratories, building his extensive electrical engineering background.

He is credited with the development all of the shock-hardened electrical systems at DSR and continues to advance these state-of-the-art systems with his novel ideas and concepts.

Joseph Lucero
sr. mechanical engineer

Joe worked at the Sandia National Laboratories for over 12 years as a mechanical engineer and is the lead senior mechanical engineer for our development efforts with the US Government.

Joe’s design and manufacturing experience has resulted in DSR’s shock-hardened electronics working the first time at minimal cost.

Benjamin Welch
sr. Software engineer

With an M.S. in computer engineering and a B.S. in computer engineering and a decade of experience with the Dept. of Energy Research Laboratory, Ben leads our development of systems architecture, embedded firmware, and FPGA design.

Ben also holds a patent to adjust trigger thresholds to compensate for drift in signal measurements.

Benjamin Salas
Senior accountant

Ben coordinates and runs the financial side of DSR and is responsible for the day-to-day financial stewardship of the company. Ben has a bachelors and masters degree in accounting.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the typical lead time for data acquisition systems?

Each system is unique and timelines are based on the available on-hand hardware available. Typical lead times are 1-6 weeks.

Does DSR develop and manufacture individual prototype systems?

Yes. We commonly develop 1-off systems for our customer's specific applications.

Are any of your initiation systems shock hardened?

Yes. We have several families of fuzing systems (including ESAD systems). Contact us and with your requirements/needs.

What medium can your fast acting valves operate in and can they be used in hot or cold environments?

Our DSR fast-acting valves are viable for use with any inert gas and with low viscosity liquids.

Can you provide more information on remote sensing and your radio frequency capabilities?

DSR is involved in several projects that involve autonomous, remote sensing, that utilizes RF technologies to transmit information across wide distances and provide near real-time data dashboards for immediate decision making capabilities. Please contact DSR for more specific information or to discuss your needs.
